Alex Cuba gana nueva categoría latina en los Premios Juno 2026: Lista completa

Fue una gran noche para Tate McRae en la gala de los Premios Juno en Hamilton, Ontario, el sábado por la noche (28 de marzo). La cantante ganó cuatro premios de la música canadiense, incluidos varios de los más importantes, pero no estuvo presente para celebrarlo. Ganador previo de los Juno Awards, así como de cuatro Latin Grammys, Alex Cuba triunfó en la nueva categoría de grabación de música latina del año cin su álbum Índole. La categoría fue implementada este año tras un impulso de la industria para reconocer el éxito de los artistas latinos en el país. Veterano de los Junos, Cuba ha ganado dos premios anteriores, en 2006 y 2008, en la categoría entonces llamada álbum de música del mundo del año. Ahora pasa a la historia como el primer ganador específicamente por música latina en los Juno.

Los artistas punjabi-canadienses Karan Aujla e Ikky ganaron en el segundo año de la categoría grabación de música del sur de Asia del año por su colaboración, P-Pop Culture. Al igual que Cuba, Aujla es un ganador previo en otra categoría separada, la elegida por los fans en 2024, lo que demostró la popularidad de la música punjabi en Canadá antes de la creación de la categoría. Aujla no pudo aceptar el premio porque se encuentra de gira en India.
